Peter, a forestry graduate from UBC, moved to Kelowna in1986. He currently works for the forestry consulting firm Montane Resource Management. With no background in the theatre, Peter accompanied his wife Vicki to a play reading/audition for Theatre Kelowna Society in 1988. That year he ended up as a stage hand for one show and even appeared on stage for two others. The theatre has been a consuming “hobby” for him ever since. Peter was asked to join the board of Viva Musica in 2001 and was elected president in 2008. Peter has also served on the board of Theatre Kelowna Society, the board of managers for St. David’s Presbyterian church (where he is a member of the choir) and was president of the South Okanagan Woodlot Association.
Ben NielandVice President
Ben moved to the Okanagan from Vancouver nine years ago to establish the Kelowna satellite office for the Credit Counselling Society of BC. Prior to that, he was a senior counselor at CCS’s head office in New Westminster. This position followed a series of positions in accounting and financial work including a number of years with CIBC, the St. Regis Hotel, the Ramada Inn and MacCosham Van Lines in Edmonton. In addition to his work, Ben takes an active interest in the community especially with the Kelowna Summer Theatre Festival board of directors, where he sits as Vice President. A few years ago, Ben served for two years as Pride Chairperson for the Okangan Rainbow Coalition.
Neal FaceyArtistic Director
Neal is a former theatre teacher at Kelowna Secondary School. In 1990, he co-founded Viva Musica with Roslyn Franz and directed all of that company's major productions. Last summer Neal directed the inaugural productions of the Kelowna Summer Theatre Festival. In addition, he has directed productions for the City of Kelowna and the Okanagan Symphony. In 2006, Neal was the recipient of the Honour in the Arts Award for the City of Kelowna and later that year was the recipient of the Angel Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts. Most recently, he was the director of the Okanagan Arts Awards Showcase in March.
Originally from the UK, Lucy has studied to the highest levels of Dance & Performing Arts. She obtained numerous scholarships for internationally acclaimed dance institutions including The Laban Centre, Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, as well as Bird College, where she would go on to gain a BA (HONS) Degree in Dance & Theatre Performance, London, England. After completion of her formal training, Lucy’s professional work has taken her from performances in London’s infamous West End, to locations in and around the United States. Lucy now resides in Kelowna, BC where she began ’LUKI Dance Productions’ in 2011. LUKI Dance Productions is a unique and diverse company offering many forms of dance entertainment: from corporate events to theatre productions, wedding dance choreography, masterclasses, dance competitions, workshops/intensives and a pre-professional training program for ages 17+. Heidi HewittMusical Director (ARCT, RMT)
Heidi teaches piano, does vocal coaching for 40 private music students and is the music coordinator for the Kelowna Bible Chapel. As a piano performer, Heidi has played with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and for many musicals with various Okanagan theatre companies. As a vocalist, Heidi has had lead roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Sound of Music and enjoys singing the Canadian and American National anthems regularly at the Kelowna Rockets home games. Heidi loves to write songs and has recorded 6 CDs with another one waiting in the wings.
